2013-06-15 14.19.49After the all-of-a-sudden much rave on Facebook and Instagram, Samuel and I finally got our dose of Saturday-cafe-hop to Chye Seng Huat Hardware! It’s not hardware shop but a cafe. CSHH is Papa Palheta‘s (the independent coffee boutique/roaster we all heard of) new flagship store. This new establishment houses their roastery, coffee bar and a ‘glasshouse’ specially for slow bar, which they call it the C-platform. Samuel & I were very impressed by the cafe’s concept and aesthetics – traditionally modern, simply sophisticated (note the fusion of contrasts, pretty cool). I shall let the pictures do the talking!

“Songs and smells will bring you back to a moment in time more than anything else. It’s amazing how much can be conjured with a few notes of a song or a solitary whiff of a room. A song you didn’t even pay attention to at the time, a place that you didn’t know had a particular smell.”

I’m now at Book Cafe spending some alone time on this beautiful afternoon, which also happened to be my off day! Just as you’re wondering where I’m working at, I’m currently a barista at Made By Lauren Jasmine , also handling all their social media aspects like Facebook and Instagram. I’ll be starting school again in August, am pursuing a New Media degree in National University of Singapore (NUS). Is it just me or there is this whole trend of café hopping, which happens to go viral on Instagram with all the food pictures, hashtags and all. Nevertheless, if you can’t beat them, join them, hahaha what’s more trying out new food and exploring new place!

Yes, (as all Singaporeans are proud of), Singapore is the food paradise. People tweeting, instagramming, facebooking, tumblring about food all day all night long. So, here I am, embarking on this food journal, ‘keeping track’ of my food hunts on mission or by luck.

After interviewing as a part-time barista/sandwich maker at Made By Lauren Jasmine (I guess I clinched it! Much thanks to the bird who decided to drop her poop on me as I walk out of lecture earlier, hahaha ) & since it’s nearby, I decided to check out Muffinry, which I hear so many good words for their puffin’ muffins!

If you don’t keep your eyes open, you might just missed it along Telok Ayer Street. A cosy cafe to hang out with your friends over a cup of coffee/tea & of course, pairing it with a muffin of your choice. Power points & Wifi’s available, ultimate plus points, hahaha

It’s been a long time seen I last met up with my girls, Kezia & Ting. And alas, the day came! Kez stays at Fernvale, somewhere near Yio Chu Kang. As I put it, it’s finally more happening ’cause there’s a new mall! Greenwich Mall, where all the food joints unite. I’m lovin’ it! It feels like we’re in another country or something, guess it’s pretty much the wooden planked floor.

Couldn’t end lunch without dessert no? Especially when we have sweet teeth, hahaha Right opposite Coffee Bean, Mooshi Bakes with Awfully Chocolate. Bread, cakes, chocolate. Filling ourselves with mouthfuls of Hot Banana Butterscotch Pudding w Vanilla Ice Cream & Hazelnut Chocolate Cake, we talked ‘business’ about anything and everything as if the sun’s in the shade.

We can’t deny the uncanny resemblance of Antoinette to Canele. After the opening of Antoinette, everyone (or at least most of my friends) was amazed at the similarity – the whole ambience, food & dessert menu. There was the whole debate whether the chef from Canele went over to Antoinette*. In any case, my BFF & I decided to go ‘spot the difference.’ At first, we wanted to visit the one at Scarlet Hotel. It wasn’t a smooth trip, having to run in the rain from Tanjong Pagar station, to only realise that they were not….open? Actually, we weren’t sure, because everything was set up but there seemed to be no one. To add on, they do not serve ala carte items, only coffee, tea, macarons and cakes. As much as we were disappointed, when a girl has a craving, it has to be satisfied, isn’t it? So, we made our way to the outlet at Mandarin Gallery. The whole dining place is very elegant and classy, giving the kingdom royalty feel, totally a good mini tea party with your girlfriends or a romantic dinner date. To note, it was freezing cold, my best friend & I had to swallow our food literally just to get out the soonest, no harm bringing along a comfy sweater or jacket!
